Writings
Regan Hicks
One of my biggest hobbies growing upwas writing. I was always writing something - musicals, screenplays, songs, novels...you name it! Although most of those scripts written by ten year old me have since been scratched, my love of writing still remains. Through the years, I took writing classes, collaborated with talented creators, honed my skills, and now I am fortunate enough to be able to call myself a professional writer. I have had the privilege of being commissioned to write songs for various projects (plays, TV pilot, Role Playing Games such as D&D, etc...) as well as the privilege of producing some of my original scripts (a short film and a musical). I love collaborating with amazing artists and bringing stories to life! If you are interested in collaborating with me or commissioning me to write for your project, you can view my resume below, samples of my work, and all of my contact information.
LET'S TELL STORIES!
BLOOD STAINS
A 10 Minute Play
PLACE: South Korea
TIME: 1952

The Korean War. 1952. South Korea, near the 38th Parallel. A surprise attack by the North Korean military destroys almost an entire U.S. army troupe. Only three members are left alive - a soldier who doesn't want to be a soldier, a nurse who can't shake a ghost from her past, and a wounded, unconscious soldier named Davey. Soldier and Nurse must work fast and cooperate if they are to save Davey's life and make it out of the war zone alive. This 10 minute play explores the tragedy of war, the pain of loss, and the need for love in the darkest of times.
LIBERTY
A New Musical
PLACE: S.S. Nevada
TIME: 1891

In the last few days of 1891, the S. S. Nevada travels across the Atlantic delivering a diverse group of immigrants to start their new lives in America. Annie Moore - a poor Irish lass with a broken spirit and two mischievous brothers - has the adventure of her life as she discovers love, fights against oppression, and becomes the first immigrant to pass through Ellis Island.
Stigma
A New Play
PLACE: A small town in Texas
TIME: Present Day
Rose is a devout Christian, a talented religious poet, and a kind, accepting young woman. She is everything her parents wanted in a child, everything the community sees as a pillar of strength and virtue. She is perfect in every way except one. Something is wrong with Rose, and no one will tell her what it is. Her mother merely shoves her off to their pastor. Her pastor merely tells her to pray. Her angels merely tell her to scream the truth. Only the new kid in town - psychology major Axel - wants to help her. Will he succeed? Or will Rose be left suffering for the rest of her life? Written by Regan Hicks, Stigma explores the harm inflicted when society cannot look past the ingrained stigma, and why we need to break down these horrific conventional views.
